Board Member- Kandiyohi County Food Shelf
Each year we look for some new board members to help fulfill our mission. The board is made up of 11 members and meets months the 3rd Thursday of each month starting at 7:30am. Boad terms are two, 3 year terms for a total of 6 years. Business individuals are encouraged to reach out if interested.

We are looking for passionate and professional leaders in our community to join our board. Serving on our nonprofit board is a great way to give back to your community and ensure swimming remains here in Willmar. Board Members
We are always looking to recruit new board members as terms begin and end on a rolling basis.
Captain
You need to be able to dock and load a 28 foot pontoon and how to drive it. Bait hooks and take off fish. Know the rules of the lake.
Co-Captain
You will assist the captain while docking and loading the pontoon. Experience loading and unloading is a plus. Baiting a hook and taking off fish. Escorting clients to and from the pontoon.
Community Revival Boutique and Thrift
CRBT is looking for volunteers who would like to greet and assist customers, run the till and help with the day to day operations of the thrift store.
Maintenance and Repair
Understanding mechanics of a boat/pontoon. Ability to help with minor repairs. Have flexibility to bring to dealership if necessary for repairs.
Organize and sort supplies
We need help organizing and sorting through materials in our United Way office! Out with the old and in with the new in 2025! Time slots are flexible during business hours. Help for 2 hours, 4 hours, or whatever works best!
Organizer
We are looking for individuals who can help us out with sorting, organizing, and purging outdated STUFF! We're so busy doing the work, it doesn't leave us much time to organize and sort and such.
President
The Willmar Aquatic Racing Stingrays will be seeking a professional and talented individual to fill our President role in the upcoming season beginning May 2025. This position requires a 4 year commitment. Our President is responsible for the overall direction of the board, presides over meetings, helps manage team affairs on wet and dry side, assists in hiring, gives financial oversight, and supports specials projects. Race Director
The Willmar Aquatic Racing Stingrays are the proud hosts of the Green Lake Kids Triathlon each summer. Our Triathlon takes place in August on the sunny shores of Green Lake in Spicer, MN. Athletes of all levels, ages 3-12 are invited to participate. We are seeking an individual to oversee all aspects of the race, as a meet director. This individual would work with an amazing committee to ensure the event is a success.
School Tour Gudie
We are in need of volunteers to help with our school age tours. Every spring we have 8-10 schools visit the museum complex. It is such a joy to hear all the kids excited to learn about Kandiyohi County history!
We do the tours in stations and need between 5-7 volunteers for each tour. We also need one volunteer to be at the reception desk to help the visitors.
Secretary
The Willmar Aquatic Racing Stingrays are looking to fill our Secretary position. This position is requires attendance at monthly boars meetings, recording meeting notes, help with team communication, coordinate meetings, keep records, support coaches with awards/level ups. The Link Food Pantry
The Link Food Pantry is looking for individuals interested in serving families in the Food Pantry. This volunteer opportunity would be more of an on-call basis when regular volunteers are unable to make it for their scheduled shift.

Position Overview
Project Optimist is recruiting volunteer moderators for its Shades of Purple: dialogue across difference series. This program aims to foster community engagement, promote civil dialogue, and amplify moderate voices through a series of community conversations that bring Minnesotans together to discuss challenging topics.
Project Optimist is recruiting volunteer moderators for its Shades of Purple: dialogue across difference series. This program aims to foster community engagement, promote civil dialogue, and amplify moderate voices through a series of community conversations that bring Minnesotans together to discuss challenging topics.
Responsibilities of volunteer moderators include:
- Training Session: Moderators must complete a training session with Project Optimist to gain a basic understanding of our approach to dialogue, develop skills to support constructive conversations across differences, build confidence to moderate conversations, and learn how to intervene to support authentic and respectful communication when needed.
- Orientation: Moderators will also complete an orientation to Project Optimist and Shades of Purple, learning about the mission and vision of Project Optimist, understanding how Shades of Purple seeks to achieve the organization’s mission, and gaining an understanding of their role within the program.
- Moderation Commitment: Volunteer to moderate a minimum of one conversation in a calendar year.
While this is a volunteer role, Project Optimist is able to cover some travel costs for in-person events, including mileage reimbursement at 67 cents per mile. Additionally, stipends are available for individuals who require financial support to serve in this position.

Shades of Purple: Dialogue across difference in greater Minnesota is a conversation program led by Project Optimist. We’re coordinating a series of community conversations that bring greater Minnesotans together to discuss controversial topics.
Shades of Purple: Dialogue across difference in greater Minnesota is a conversation program led by Project Optimist. We’re coordinating a series of community conversations that bring greater Minnesotans together to discuss controversial topics.
The goal is to provide a supportive environment where individuals can engage in moderated conversations around personal stories related to pressing topics impacting their communities today. By sharing experiences, participants build meaningful relationships, foster a deeper understanding of one another, and enhance their active listening skills. Shades of Purple works to strengthen connections within communities while promoting empathy, trust, and open dialogue.
The Shades of Purple events will feed into a podcast series and written stories published by Project Optimist. The stories will share insights from the events that the rest of Minnesota (and the world!) can learn from.
